Reflection 6.

Field.
What we have been doing for the last three weeds is our first field experience, me and my partner Amy tought 5th grade at greenwood elementry. Field was a great experience! It was fun to actually be there and be a part of a class. We were able to apply what we have been learning and learn from our experiences. Incorrperating the arts was effective, with teaching soical studies we had good oppertunities. We actually did a couple acting and theater activties with the children as well as a song. At this age, being 5th grade they were excited but some had not had as many experiences. Reading outloud for some was hard, with one our readers theater we had about ten children voulenteer. Another activity we had all the children participate and some were very frightned, we were able to help though and it all was okay. So that was a different experience for me, because in sitiuations you have to think fast and just go with it.
So now what i take from this experince is that there are always ways to incorrperate arts into teaching, the children like it and it may make some things really memorable. Which i think is awesome, finding a way to relate to the children and what you are teaching in another way is great. The more ways you can teach or reinforce something the better!
Now what i plan on doing is continuing to inncorperate the arts into my teaching. Finding new and creative ways to teach about basic subjects.

Reflection 5.

Dance.
What we did for this assignment was a dance project. The unit started out by creating a dance as a class and small groups. A lot of our group projects were approached the same way. For my group we did a fifth grade standard and lesson on "Out of the Dust." I believe that dance helps children to be creative and free. When they feel like they have a sence of control in their motions it can help establish a trust between you the teacher and them the student.
So what does this mean to me and in my future preperation for field. It helps me to know the importance of dance, and that you are able to incorreprate it into almost anything. So there is always time for an activity such as this, you just have to make it. I know that i don't personally like to sit at a desk all day, which i feel fifth graders are much the same way. Already we went and observed out class and they are very active. I think by including something such as this in our lesson plans will help. We can have that connection and they can gain a better understanding of the world around them.
No what do i need to do to incorreprate this into my knowladge and skills. to help my students. I think that by including a variety of activties we will be able to get lots done and the time will just fly. It will be interesting to see how the students react to an activity like this, or one on drama, music etc. I know i have already been incorrperating more creative arts into my peschool teaching. I am excited to start!
Working with my groupe went well, its hard to devide the work evenly. But we were all a part of the planning process and were able to put our insight into the project. I think it's good when we work with different people, you learn more about you and your own bliefs.

Reflection 4.

 Music.
What we did this assignment was a music project.
We selected a standard in social studies in our grade level.
We worked with fifth grade, standard one.
Our project was on the Bill of Rights.
When we had to present this to the class and teach our song,
i learned to come out of my shell a little.
I am not always comfortable with singing infront of my peers,
but i was able to do this in the way we presented.
We worked with the beat, and made actions and it was
a better way to sing and create.
So what i take from this is that music is an area that i need to work on.
If i break it down and am able to make connections,
this helps me teach a song.
Working with these ideas, i can inncorperate music into many
subject areas.
Now what, i would like to obtain more music material.
I can do this by getting information from my teacher and classmates.
I can practice with my current students depending on the level.
As well as in my student teaching.
My group worked well together, we are getting to know each other.
It's good to get others point of view.
We had kind of a leader as i feel most groups did.
But we could all contribute and discuss the porject.
This was fun, i even used it in my unit project for another class.

Reflection 3.

Drama.
What i think i have learned most from this unit is to be creative.
This area goes a little out of my comfortably, but it was good for me to realize
the importance of acting and being able to use gross motor skills.
Children need to get up and move, and this is a good way to
incorporate this in our class and connect it to our lesson.
So what kind of activities would i personally use, ones similar to this.
Letting the children put their input on what they think is important.
Having activities that engage the children in opportunities
to move around the classroom and get out of their
seats is a good way to keep the focus.
Now what and why do i think drama is important, well because i think
every child learns differently so as one child may grasp the concept in another way
some children may need a visual, or a movement activity.
It will help children and teachers to be creative, work together.
My group worked well together, we were able to delicate
different pages and activities. We created a Google doc and collaborated
over the computer and in our weekly classes.

Reflection 2.

Visual Arts.
What i feel i have learned from our class discussions this past few weeks, or more or less what i take most from it is to know that there is alot of thinking that goes into even the most simple project. I think that people are inspired for their work, but they do have to consider what is pleasing to view. I think that is was really good to go over the basics, such as the elements and principlas of visual art. They help me to have a better understanding.
So what does this mean to me as a teacher, that's a good question. I think that by understaing these basic principals i can incorperate the elements and principals into more than just art. I would think this would help me do a better job with aot of teaching techniqies. Projects that my children work on can always be in better balance, and rhythm to help creat unity.
Now what I think i take most from our two lessons is that there is alot to learn when it comes to creative arts. Working with my future students will be an amazing oppertunity to impliment the basic principlas and elements into out lessons. I think that it will help our classroom work together.
Also, this past week we had the chance to work with a group. We did an illistrator assignment, which was kind of fun to see all the different techniques people use. My group worked well, we are so busy that we devided up the assignemnt and did it over google docs, and then collaberated in class. But i felt we all knew our illistrator pretty well and it gave us a chance to work together.

Reflection 1.

Rachel Reese.
(Teaching with, in, through and about the arts.)
Growing up, i remember art class all through elementary.
It was one of my favorite subjects.
I went to a few different elementary schools, one where we just had one main teacher and learned all the different subjects including art.
In my later years the school i attended had a whole class just for art.
We worked on many different projects, painting, puppets, drawing, etc.
I also grew up with a very crafty mother, so art was something we focused on at home as well.
I think it has helped me to be more creative in my thinking.
Some of the approaches that my teachers took were helpful, a few were not as helpful.
Letting us each create our own ideas and projects was something i always looked forward too.
When we got to include art on something such as a history project i was even more excited!
I think for me as a young child, and i would assume other children it made subjects that i didn't like as much seem more exciting.
I remember though i had one teacher who was so precise that after finishing a project i was told to re do tho whole thing when i had only done one little things wrong.
I don't think that was a very good experience for me, and i hope to implement into my future teaching to be a little more flexible.
I think right now is my time to prepare for my future classes, i need to learn the basics.
I think that by learning strategies and ways that art can help all around is a good idea.
I would like to learn a good foundation for my children to grow on.
